Privacy Policy

Trivial (trivial.study) is an ESAT preparation platform operated as an independent sole trader based in the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK and EU data protection law, Trivial is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

When you create an account we collect your name and email address. During onboarding you may optionally provide your target exam date and preferred ESAT modules, which helps us personalise your experience.

If you choose to set a public username (used for the arithmetic leaderboard), that username is visible to all users of the platform.

As you use the platform we store your practice and mock exam activity: which questions you answered, your selected answers, timing data per question, flags, and scores. This is what powers your results, analytics, and question review.

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. We never see your Google password.

If you subscribe, we collect billing information. Card details are processed directly by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.

We use your data to run the platform: signing you in, saving your progress, grading your attempts, and showing you your performance analytics. This processing is necessary to deliver the service you signed up for.

We send transactional emails including account confirmation, password resets, welcome messages, payment confirmations, and subscription cancellation notices. We do not send marketing emails without your consent.

We do not sell your personal data to anyone, ever.

We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate the platform:

Supabase: our database and authentication provider, hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany). Your account data and exam activity are stored here.

Stripe: payment processing. When you subscribe, you interact directly with Stripe's secure checkout. We store only your Stripe customer ID and subscription status.

Resend: transactional email delivery. Emails sent by Trivial (welcome, payment confirmation, password reset) are routed through Resend.

Vercel: application hosting and delivery, hosted on servers in the United States and EU edge locations.

Each of these providers operates under their own privacy and data protection commitments.

Trivial uses cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your display preferences, such as dark mode. These cookies are strictly necessary for the platform to function and are not affected by the cookie consent choice described below.

With your consent, Trivial also sets an advertising cookie provided by TikTok, which we use to measure the performance of our advertising campaigns. You will be asked to provide or decline this consent on your first visit to the site; if declined, only the strictly necessary cookies described above are set.

We retain your account data and exam activity for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile, attempt history, and responses are permanently removed from our systems. Billing records may be retained for up to seven years to comply with financial regulations.

You can view and update your profile information from your account settings at any time.

Under UK and EU data protection law you have the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data, to receive a copy of it in a portable format, and to object to or restrict our processing of it.

We may update this policy from time to time as our service evolves or in response to legal, technical, or regulatory changes. Where changes are material, we will let you know in a way that is proportionate to their significance, for example via a notice in the platform or by email. Where applicable data protection law requires it, we will seek your consent before any material changes take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent version.
